No one has a perfect smile. (If they do, it was probably with the help of cosmetic dentistry!) Dr. Chew provides porcelain veneers in Fremont, CA to help fix cosmetic issues such as chipped, cracked, discolored, or damaged teeth. Veneers can give you a gorgeous, bright smile! Here's how they work and how to determine if they're right for you.
What are Porcelain Veneers?
Porcelain veneers are thin layers of strong porcelain that are customized to fit the shape of your tooth. They're placed over your teeth to give you a brand new smile! Veneers can be made out of different materials, but Chew Dental Group only uses high-quality porcelain. Porcelain veneers can completely change the appearance of your smile by giving you white, reshaped teeth. Plus, they look completely natural!
How Long Do Porcelain Veneers Last?
With proper care, porcelain veneers can last for 10-15 years or longer. They're one of the most durable cosmetic dentistry options when it comes to replacing damaged teeth. Veneers tend to be on the expensive side, however, they last a long time and can be a more natural-looking option than alternatives such as crowns or dental implants.
How Do I Know if I Need Veneers?
Whether or not you need veneers, or another restorative procedure, depends on the extent of your dental issues. If you're looking to enhance the look of your smile and your teeth don't have severe damage, such as large cracks or fillings, veneers could be the best option for you. While veneers can be used to fix cracks, gaps, and chips, they can also be used to simply reshape your teeth, giving you a straight, uniform smile.
Here's How the Porcelain Veneer Procedure Works
The entire process from start to finish usually takes a couple of different visits to our office in Fremont, CA. Before we know if you're a good candidate for veneers, we'll need to perform an exam to assess the health of your teeth. If you need more restorative work than veneers can provide, we'll provide you with alternative treatment options. If you are a great candidate for veneers, we can get started right away!
Here's how the process works:
Dr. Chew takes an impression of your teeth using a mold. We'll send this mold off to a lab so they can make your custom porcelain veneers
We'll prepare your teeth for the veneers by shaving them down a bit and roughening up the surface so they'll adhere properly
While we wait for your porcelain veneers from the lab, you may or may not get temporary veneers. It depends on how much we had to shave down your teeth.
Once your custom-made veneers arrive, we'll bond them to your teeth! Once they're in place, we'll shape them to give you the most beautiful smile possible.
